It’s a sad sad day. Del Piero’s contract at Juventus expires and everyone at the club knows that there will never be another like him.
Alessandro Del Piero is one of the reasons I fell in love with football. As a youngster I was first introduced to Tottenham Hotspur. Sheringham, Klinsmann, Anderton & Gascoigne. I took a look at the game as a whole & saw a team in Italy. A family based unit that were Kings of their game. They were multiple time Serie ‘A’ Champions & they had such personel as Edgar Davids, Zinedine Zidane & of course, the master himself; Alessandro Del Piero.
Playing video games, Del Piero was the only ever-present in my team & he was the only reason I went to Turin this past May. I wanted to see him in action. I wanted to say goodbye. Little was anyone to know that Juventus were to go undefeated. That Juventus were to win their *ahem 30th Scudetto Title. That Del Piero would not only start the final game, score in the game & then lift the Trophy as Champion. What a bonus. What a privilege it was to be there.
Alessandro Del Piero I thank you, the fans thank you & football as an entity bows to you. You have been a loyal, model professional. You have stuck with us through thick & thin. As time goes on, you won’t be replaced. You will always be IL CAPITANO.
Thank you for absolutely everything.
Thank You Del Piero.
